The mighty traveler finally gets a phone suited to his needs—the Pharos Traveler 137. This smartphone is GPS-enabled and will be sold unlocked through various retailers in the Web including Newegg, Dell and Amazon.
This Traveler, which was first introduced at CES 2009, is being sold for $599.95 but you can avail of the $250 discount if you sign up with T-Mobile for a two-year contract.
So what makes the Pharos Traveler 137 different from the other GPS phones? For one, you do not need a connection to make use of the Smart navigation software which comes with the phone. The software comes with rotating calculations plus a vector map allowing you to get turn-by-turn directions, create routes and view maps.
The Pharos Traveler 137 has s 3.5-inch VGA touch screen with a resolution of 800 x 480 making operations easy for you. It has WiFi and Bluetooth plus a 3 megapixel camera so you do not need to tag along a digicam to get all the photos you need. You also get a 0.3 megapixel front camera for video conferencing.
This smartphone is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 but is upgradable to windows Mobile 6.5. It can functions for hours with 200 hours of stand by time and 7 hours of talk time. It has a Qualcomm MSM 7201A processor with a speed of 528 MHz and weighs only 4.9 ounces.
