It is easy to mistake this gadget for your component’s remote control and we can’t blame you considering the shape and looks. The Inmarsat IsatPhone Pro phone has recently been tested by London-based company Inmarsat which claims to have made the first satellite call using the said phone.
The call is significant because it paves the way for the launch of the Inmarsat IsatPhone Pro phone by June 2010. Global Satellite Phone Services commercial director Helen Stalker said the first call is a significant milestone. “We are pleased with the voice quality in initial tests,” she added. The phone is geared towards specific sectors namely the media, government, and professionals dealing in the construction, oil, gas and mining sectors.
The phone is set to offer hands-free use of the satellite telephony with Bluetooth. Like most phones, it will also come with functions for SMS text, email messaging and voice mail. The phone offers long battery life and a reliable global network connection.
You can always bank on the reputation built by phone developer Sasken Communication Technologies, known for providing similar programmes for other mobile operators the world over.
